In 1899, Robert D. Ruttle, started the business at 822 Madison Avenue in Covington. His greenhouse was located at 15th and Holman Streets. At that time, floral arrangements were delivered by horse and buggy. The business grew and became quite well established through the first two decades of the 20th Century.
In the 1950’s, Business was good and a small second store was opened on Idaho Avenue in Ft. Mitchell, and in Covington, the store was moved to a better building across Madison Avenue. The Ft. Mitchell location was later moved to a larger site on Buttermilk Pike. During this time, Roger Neltner became a partner and the florist became known as Ruttle & Neltner Florist, as it is today.
In the late 1980’s, Dan French purchased the shop and ran it until it was sold to the current owner Doris Poore in 2005.
